Computing at Hope Community School

At Hope Community School, we follow the National Centre of Community Education (NCCE), this supports children's understanding of how to use skills within the 3 areas of Computing: Digital Literacy, Information Technology and Computer Science, they would have learnt in previous years to ensure children have embedded the required knowledge and skills. To support the teaching of Online Safety we use resources from LGFL Safe Skills, these allow staff to assess their children's skills and knowledge and how to approach specific topics to enable them to become responsible citizens of the digital world.

Computing is taught weekly by teachers for 1 hour in KS1 and 90 minutes in KS2. All lesson begin with short online safety input which is delivered using CEOP thinkuknow resources. Children have access to a class set of laptops and a class set of iPads. KS1 also have access to a set of programmable BeeBots, all classes have access to the resources so that they can be used across the curriculum.
